Frank Flanagan is a veteran trial lawyer and a Navy JAG veteran who has spent over 30 years helping individuals facing legal challenges. Whether those challenges are in Rhode Island Family Court or in Criminal Court in both Federal or State jurisdictions, Frank Flanagan can help.

Over the decades he has been practicing law, Attorney Flanagan has been trial counsel in hundreds of cases, with issues as diverse as espionage, DUI defense, capital punishment/murder, complex property division in divorce cases and child custody issues arising from your Rhode Island divorce.

Born and raised in greater Boston, Frank attended Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont and Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating from law school, Frank became a United States Naval Officer serving in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp. In a combined active duty and reserve career that spanned 22 years, Frank served as a defense counsel at Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, as a military prosecutor for the Northeast Naval commands, as a special United States Assistant Federal prosecutor prosecuting civilians in Federal Court who were accused of committing crimes on federal/naval land, and as a professor at the Naval Justice School and guest lecturer at the United States Naval War College.

Attorney Frank Flanagan is also an active member of the Rhode Island Family Court Inns of Court and has been a fixture in the Rhode Island Family Court tackling all issues arising in both simple and complex Rhode Island divorce cases.

Likewise, in Rhode Island’s State and Federal Criminal Courts, with cases as diverse as a DUI defense (Driving Under the Influence), to felony strangulation, Frank Flanagan is known as the lawyer to see if you want to protect yourself and your rights.

Attorney Flanagan’s practice also includes representing individuals facing loss of their security clearances as well as representing American service members charged in military Courts who are facing courtmarshall.

Outside of his trial practice, Frank Flanagan is committed to public service.

Attorney Flanagan currently serves as a Commissioner on Rhode Island’s Judicial Nominating Commission and was appointed as a member of the Rhode Island Supreme Court Disciplinary Board.

Attorney Flanagan has served as a Commissioner on the Rhode Island State Ethics Commission and as a Zoning Board member of the Middletown, Rhode Island’s Zoning Board.

Additionally, Frank Flanagan was a professor at Salve Regina University for over 10 years and volunteered as a youth rugby coach. He currently sits as a Board member for the Newport County Boys and Girls Club in Newport, Rhode Island.
